so you think we're just kids eh?
So you think sophomores are just kids huh? Well, you’re damn wrong! We can fight and we can win!
Today, our college had an inter-batch activity – a sportsfest. Our batch, the sophies, have some catching up to do since we only have two points listed to our name in the batch cup (it’s our version of Hogwarts’ House Cup) scoreboard. Our batch only had the chance to play in the afternoon since most of us had an accounting class in the morning. Of all the 60-plus sophies, only 8 had the guts to join – me, Jackie, John, Miko, Maan, Jobelle, Kriszia, Ashley – in the Philippine games part and Kamille caught up with us and joined in the volleyball game. All of the activities were fun. Our mind set was that even if we don’t win, as long as we’re having fun, we’ll still be satisfied.
But during the volleyball match between the sophies and the seniors, we became emotional. At first we were very enthusiastic because we know that it was just for fun. We won the first match but lost the second in a best-of-three series. During the third and deciding game, one of the senior players kept making ‘parinig’ that they should already be considered the winners. He kept telling the scorers to key in 15 points under their name. It was fine for us but during the latter part of the game, he said something really nasty that it hurt our team’s feelings. He said “dun mo ibigay sa naka-green,naka-blue tsaka naka-black. Hindi marunong maglaro yang mga yan.” Then he laughed a sinister-like laugh. I was the one wearing green, and I think he was pertaining to Kamille when he mentioned the one wearing blue and Miko was the one wearing black. So I got really offended. I mean, I was playing really hard in that game so don’t tell me I don’t know how to play! I am not a pro but at least I’m trying my best. The same is true with Kamille and Miko.
It’s as if the bastard is really good! In fact, sya pa nga yung hindi nakakakuha sa bola minsan. That guy is such a show-off! I hate him! No,no,no,no… Let me correct myself: I LOATH THE GUY! Akala mo kung sino syang magaling at matalino e puro lang naman sya dada. STUPID!
I know all of my teammates were hurt too. Jackie said when the ‘prat’ made the statement: “hoy hinde. Marunong sila.” And at that moment, I wanted to hug Jackie for sticking up for us. Thanks Jackie!
While the prat kept making statements, our team lost confidence and decided to let them win the game. Those words he said were so demeaning that we felt even more tired that we wanted the game to end.
After the game, I really wanted to cry but I decided that I wouldn’t give that bastard the satisfaction. Sino ba sya para iyakan? Then some of his teammates and other seniors as well were apologizing for the bastard’s attitude. Akala pa nga nung ibang players dun na pati sa kanila e galit din kami. So we told them that we don’t hate them, it’s just the bastard we hate. So yun, nagkwentuhan na lang kami about other things worth talking about.
Hay nako, being sa senior talaga is not a sign of wisdom. Supposedly, the older ones are to be respected, pero the guy in my story doesn’t deserve any respect from anyone. He’s a prat. He’s a bastard and I hate him!
*kudos to all the sophies who participated kanina. We did it guys!(Note: sorry pala sa mga bad words...i'm not usually like this. just when i'm livid.)

"Real love is when you love someone without asking for anything in return. It's when even a passing smile can make your day, a small pat on the back can make you feel alive and the mere sound of his/her voice can move you to break out into a song inside.
Real love isn't fate nor is it written in the stars. You , yourself, have to make love happen. It's a choice; a commitment that you stand up for. And even if you're uncertain if he'she loves you back, you take the risk of facing whatever pain that would come your way simply because you believe he/she is worth everything and more."
